Mark Tavani was born in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, and grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia. After working briefly at a beer distributor in Pittsburgh and as a forestry aid in New Mexico, he coaxed from the University of Pittsburgh a degree in creative writing. In 2000, he joined the Random House Publishing Group, where he is now a Senior Editor.
His varied interests have led him to acquire thrillers, literary novels, sports and true crime nonfiction, and a book about a 5-foot, 9-inch journalist who becomes a sumo wrestler. The list of authors he has worked with includes bestsellers Steve Berry, Katherine Neville, Charlie Huston, Barry Eisler, R.L. Stine, and Mike Greenberg, and award winners Justin Cronin, George Dohrmann, David Corbett, and Alex Berenson.
Mark lives in Brooklyn with his wife and in his spare time enjoys traveling, cheering with great gusto if little common sense for Philadelphia's major sports teams, and deftly avoiding mastery of the Spanish language.
